I wish I spoke Swedish. Even though everyone speaks English here. No really EVERYONE. Then maybe I'd understand what "lagom" means. I just found out about this word, more of an ethos really, and Sweden starts to make sense: Not too much. Not too little. But just right. The lagom amount. It's like portions of food- always lagom. And Robert at IASPIS was telling me about how at art school, the aim of criticism is concensus. But what happens when that concensus is impossible? When something's just plain crap/lazy/doing things you've never seen before. I haven't been here long enough to work it out, but it could lead to things being a bit safe. Cozy. Easy.
But lagom could be genius- a way of reconciling yourself to society/the planet. Lagoooooooommmm.... Very zen. Now I understand Sven Goran Erikkssssonnnnmmmm. Not too much defence. Not too much attack. Just enough to win. No more. That's why after 5-1 against Germany he said "Five was too much..."
So have a lagom day, keep it lagom,
